DBC: Item Groups
Item Groups allow you to combine multiple items to appear as one item in a catalog. An example of this would be combining different output options of selecting a Printed Version, Flipbook, or Downloadable PDF into one item selection. These are all different items, yet it’s presented as “one” Lookbook in the example below.
Access Item Groups
To access an Item Group or setup a new one, go to New Dist Admin > Items > Item Groups.
When you click into this area, you will be presented with a listing of all Item Groups that have been set up for this company.
- You can double click (or click on the edit icon that will appear upon hover to the right) on an existing Item Group to open up the modal to allow editing.
- You can use the search feature to narrow down the results shown.
- You can delete an Item Group by clicking on the “trashcan” icon that appears upon hover.
- You can add a new Item Group (steps shown below).
Add New Item Group
To set up a new Item Group, expand the ITEMS section in your left nav and select Item Groups. From there, click on the “+."
It will prompt you to enter the "Item Group Code." Enter a unique code to represent this group. This will end up being the Item Code that you select to place into the catalog. This must be unique. It cannot be the same as another Item Code already in DB/c. Click on "Add Item Group."
Basic Information
Once you click on "Add Item Group," you will then be presented with the following for you to add additional information: "Item Group Name," "Dropdown Selection Label," and whether you want to show pricing. There is also a checkbox called Show Range. If this is selected, the item will display the lowest to highest price of the items in this group.
Select Group Items
In this section, click on the grayed-out tab that denotes the company you are working in. This will display a listing of the company’s items for selection. You also have the opportunity to click on the to select other companies if you wish to include items from other companies in your Item Group.
Note: All items in the item group MUST have the same Pricing Type (Standard, QB Freeform, QB Restricted). This is based on the Pricing Method set on the items.
Once you have made your selections, you can add an Item Name to display in the drop-down list for that item. By default, it will show the Item Code in the dropdown.
If needed, you can enter in a longer description to show by the item image to describe it. To do so, you will need to double click on the item (or click on the edit icon that will appear upon hover). This will bring up a new modal to allow you to enter an override Item Description.
By default, when a user selects an Item Group, the description will display the first item’s description. As the user makes a selection from the dropdown, the description will change to that particular item’s description that was set on the item. You can choose to override these descriptions here in this area.
The image presented to the user when the Item Group is selected will be the item image of the first item in the list. As the user makes a selection from the dropdown, the image will change to that item’s image.
Adding Item Group to Catalog
Once the Item Group is created, you’ll need to add it to the catalog desired. Item Groups can only be added to the "Carousel" and "Default Catalog Style" catalogs.
- Go to Catalogs > Catalog List.
- Select and edit the catalog you want this Item Group to be in.
- In the "Select Catalog Items" section, select the Item Group to be included in that catalog.
