EQLinks: Coupon

EQ/l’s Coupon Maintenance is used to create and maintain coupons, their values, and conditions. Coupons are discounts used on eCommerce. Coupons uses conditions and rules to apply the coupon to an eCommerce order.


Using coupons in EQ Link requires a O/P Special Charges to be added into DB/d so the feature maps functions correctly.

DB Distributor - O/P Special Charges

Located in DB Distributor > Order Processing > Setup > System > Supporting Files > Recommended > O/P Special Charges.


  • Add a Special Charge of ‘EQLCOUPON’ to meet the needs of a discount.
  • Select your appropriate Product Code.
  • Check ‘Keep Order History?’
  • Check ‘Enter Only Extensions?’
  • Save

Standard O/P Special Charges for EQ/l

  • EQLALLOW – for allowance coupons.
  • EQLATT – for item attributes upcharges.
  • EQLCOUPON – for discount coupons.
  • EQLSRVCHG – for attribute flat and service charges.

Activating Coupons

From EQ Link’s main menu go to File>Utilities>Company Maintenance. Edit your company, click on the Options tab. Select Allow Coupons, click Okay.

Creating the Coupons

To setup Coupons go to A/R>A/R File Maintenance>Gift Cert/Coupons>Coupon Maintenance. Click Add. The Define Coupon Set window displays. This window is separated into three tabs, General, Numbering and Conditions.


General tab

DEFINE COUPON SET - NUMBERING TAB

Coupons have two numbering options.

  • Common Number – multi-use coupon number.* Limited to 10 characters for DB/d.
  • Unique Number – Used with ‘Single Use’ coupons to generate a unique numbering sequence. 20 Character limit.

o Count: – how many coupons to create.

o Prefix: - optional, uses up to 3 of 20 character limit.

DEFINE COUPON SET - CONDITIONS TAB - ADD CONDITION/RULE

Add Condition/Rule is used to define the coupon's conditions/rules that MUST be met for the coupon to be valid. Click Add to access the Add Condition/Rule window.

  • Each condition/rule can only be used once in a coupon.
  • As a condition/rule is added, it is removed from the Conditions/Rules list.
  • Highlight the condition/rule and click Add Rule.

o An additional window opens to record the conditions.

After configuring the coupon(s) Conditions/Rules click Save. EQ Link displays a warning message asking to activate the coupons. Selecting Yes connects to eCommerce, activates the coupons then displays a list of the coupons. Click Exit.

Activate Coupons on Quantum Net/QStore

The next step is to activate the Coupon feature on the eCommerce sites. Logon to the Distributor Access. In EQ Link go to Help>Websites>Distributor Login.

Copy and paste the URL into your browser to access the login screen and sign in.

EQ Commerce Setup

Click on Site Appearance > Customize Checkout.

  • Select the Client
  • Click on Coupon
  • Check Enable Coupon
  • Save

Using a Coupon on an Order

Activating the coupon(s) for the client prompts the system to add a button to the Checkout screen labeled Coupons. Click on the coupon button to enter the number then click SUBMIT COUPON.

A status message will display the results.

The Order Confirmation prints the Coupon Code and discount amount.

Seeing the Coupon in DB/d

When an eCommerce order is generated in DB/d, the coupon is an added line in the sales order with a negative value equal to the discount.

Notes

  • Coupons are discounts offered by the Distributor.
  • Remember to add the Special Charge of ‘EQLCOUPON’ for EQ Link environment.
  • If a promise of payment by the client is involved, use the Allowance Coupon (aka Spending Account) to ensure repayment. See EQ/l Allowance document.
