EQC: Self-Registration Setup
The self-registration feature allows users to gain access to an EQ Commerce site and register as a user. The new user inherits the user rights that were enabled for the Master User (self-registration).
Q-Net has three User types:
Standard (S): This type of user is no longer supported on EQ Commerce.
Enhanced (E) User:
- Created manually or through self-registration.
- Logs into Q-Net using email address and password.
- The shopping cart is automatically saved.
Self-Register (M) User:
- Used to create self-registration ID to be applied to login page settings.
- Users that have been set up via the Master User become Enhanced Users.
- User cannot place orders.
The self-registration feature uses the Master User as a template to give the registering user the rights to pricing, catalogs, shipping options and reports. If the Master User is associated with a user group, the registering user inherits that user group or groups associated to the Master User. Adding the group is highly advised.
When a user accesses the EQ Commerce login page, and selects “Not a registered user? Click here to set up your account” the user is immediately required to enter their email address. They are then asked to enter their personal information and to select their password.
After completing the information, they are directed to the EQ Commerce shopping portal. They have access to any user options that were enabled for from the master or group setup. When they return to the login, they will use only the Username / Email and Password fields to log in to the EQ shopping postal.
This “Enhanced” user is allowed to change their information, including password by clicking on the Profile navigation button on menu bar (unless site has the option suppressed). Once registered, the login page allows the user to click “Forgot your Password” and sends an email to the username to be reset
Creating Self Register (M) User:
The Master User is a template for user rights of the self-registering users. The rights can be added by assigning the Master User to a group or individually marking the rights.
Note: Multiple Self-Register users can be created to assign different levels of rights to the users. When the user logs into Q-Net, the Self Register (M) user emails and passwords entered determines the user's rights. A custom login needs to be created if multiple Self-Register users are created.
*Only 1 Self Resister ID per client can be entered into EQ Commerce Login setting.
To create the Self Register user, log on to Distributor Setup > Distributor Access > Select Client > Administrator Login > Admin Settings > New User button.
Enter a name in the "New User Name" field. This is used internally to identify the user.
Note: Depending on the needs of the users, the Master User can be used to associate the users to one cost center, or they can choose the cost center from a drop down, or they can enter in their cost center ID. If the users will be associated to the Master User’s cost center, a Master User will need to be created for each cost center.
Enter in a password, Select a Cost Center, and if applicable a Manager Profile. For User Type, use the dropdown to select Self-Register (M) (passwords are case sensitive).
The dropdown for "User Select CC" has three options for associating a user to a cost center.
Blank: all created users will be associated with the same cost center the Master User is assigned under.
Cost Center Drop Down: allows the user to choose which cost center they wish to be associated with. The Master User's cost center will default in the dropdown; the user can select any cost center from the list.
Note: To make required: customize the CC Combo field “Select a Location (Required)."
Site Option > Enter Client ID > Self-registration CC Combo Box.
Cost Center Input Required: User must enter the cost center ID they wish be associated with.
If multiple "Self-Registration Users" are created, a unique email address / username and password need to be given to each of the Master Users. Conflicts will occur with Duplicate logins.
Check all applicable boxes on the Main, Catalogs, Shipping, Reports tabs and other tab setting options for the rights you want the new users to inherit. The Master User can be associated to a group on the Groups tab (recommended). The user will inherit the associated group selected at time of user registration.
Creating Users:
- A registering user will enter the user’s e-mail address in the Email field and click Submit.
- The email address entered becomes their Username when they return to the site.
- After entering their e-mail address, the user is prompted to enter their personal information: name, phone, cost center and password (passwords are case sensitive). The cost center field options are determined by the "Self-Register (M) User" settings selected prior.
- After the information is completed, click Continue. The user will be logged into webstore site and ready to place their order.
- When logging in the next time the user will use their email address / username and the password they created during login.
The new users are Enhanced users, which allows them to maintain their personal information and password. Once user is logged into the site, they can select the Profile button from the menu bar to edit their personal information. This option can be suppressed in EQ Commerce Setup.
A User can reset their password if they forget from the login page. User must enter their email address (and have registered with that email address) to reset.
