- Select the Assignments tab and make sure a vendor is assigned
- Select the Template Tab
General Settings
If an item hasn't been configured, the administrator will see a button that reads, "Associate Chili Document."
Once "Associate Chili Document" has been selected the administrator will see a modal with all the folders that reside under Resources >Documents > Items, within Chili Backoffice.
Select the folder where your document resides or use the search bar. Once selected additional options will become present within the General Setting area.
Chili Document
Chili Document allows you to associate your Chili template with a DB Enterprise item code.
- Clear Document: Allows administrators to select a new Chili document.
- Reset User Template: Administrators should reset a template whenever the CHILI document is updated or modified. This ensures users always access the latest version of the template, and clears any active sessions so they’re working from the most up-to-date version.
- Generate Image from Chili Preview (see Media Tab): Allows administrators to create a media file from the Chili document. When clicked, the image will show on the Media Tab.
When your distributor was set up with Chili, they inherit the defaults set by DB Commerce. You have the ability to change this for your distributor or per customer if needed. Additional directions on how to make these change to come. If you need assistance in the meantime please contact service@demandbridge.com.

Special Instructions (Top)
This area allows an administrator to add specific instructions to an item, providing guidance for users—especially helpful when the piece is complex. These instructions appear at the top of the template.
Special Instructions (Bottom)
This area allows an administrator to add supplementary instructions to an item, typically details that are helpful but not critical. These instructions appear below the template.
Tabs
Tabs allow administrators to organize variables on an item, which is especially useful when an item has many variables. Administrators can create tabs and apply them across multiple items. In the All Customization Tabs section, admins can create and select tabs to use among all customizable items, while the Selected Customization Tabs section displays the tabs currently assigned to the item.
Chili Variables
Chili Variables are the variables assigned within a Chili document. The administrator is presented with a table, that displays the Variable Name, Variable Type, Tab assignment (if applicable) Descriptor and Script.
Name
Variable Name in Chili Backoffice. This is a read only field.
Type
Variable Type in Chili Backoffice, button bar, short text (string), long text, list, date, image, checkbox, etc. This is a read only field.
Tab
Tabs in which the variable will show within the site. Double click the row or check the row and select "Edit Selected" to add the variable to a tab. Once assigned it will show within this column. It's important that if you are using tabs, that ALL variables are assigned to a tab even if they are hidden.
Descriptor
Text entered by the end user into the variable that will be appended to the item description. Check the checkbox and the information entered by the end user will be appended to the item description.
Scripts
Additional logic that can be added to a variable that isn't as easily accomplished with a Chili Action.
Admins have the option to double click the row or check the checkbox for a row and select "Edit Selected" which will open a modal. Based on the variable type, the modals may differ slightly. The most common modals you will see are for String/List variables and Image variables. Each modal contains Name, Type, Tab and Add Script button.
Company Profile Group will show when the variable is a string or list variable showing the administrator a message that reads, "A company profile group is auto-populating this list" if a Company Profile Group is assigned to that variable. If you are going to use a script to map to a Company Profile Group, you will select a Company Profile Group from the dropdown.
Profile Field Value is an outdated feature used with past Pageflex integration.
Image Types will show when the variable is an image allowing the administrator to set what type of images the end users can select from.
- Chili Assets - Images that reside in Chili Backoffice that will be used for the item.
- My Images - Allows the end user to upload their own images.
- Asset Library - Images that reside within the DB Commerce asset library, that can be used within a Chili Template or outside of the platform if desired.
End User View:
Add Script will allow and administrator to add a script to a variable, such as formatting for phone numbers, show/hide other variable fields, etc. Once Add Script is selected an additional area appears within the modal.
- Script Name - This is the internal name of the script, used to help administrators identify it. It will not be displayed to end users.
- Script Event - How your script appears to the end user when adding data.
- On Blur - Change happens once you click another field/variable.
- On Change - Change is happening as you type it.
- Script Type - A dropdown list of available prewritten scripts to select from.
- Script Parameters - These are the input parameters for each script. Provide the correct values here to ensure the script executes as intended.
Click the Script Documentation link to view all available scripts, explanation, and the parameters required for proper execution. Scripts cannot be rewritten or modified and will not work correctly if any of the formatting is modified.
