PDF Creation Failed Message - Image Failed: asset not found.

Summary

When users attempting to generate their customizable item, you may see the error: "PDF Creation Failed — Image Failed: asset not found." This means an image referenced by the template has been removed from Chili's asset library. Because the asset no longer exists, Chili cannot locate it during PDF generation and the process fails.

Resolution Steps

  1. Go to Chili Backoffice > Assets and confirm the image referenced by the template is missing.
  2. Open the Chili document and verify the image placement is empty or broken.
  3. Reupload the correct image to the Assets area in Chili Backoffice.
  4. Reassign the uploaded image to the appropriate placement within the template.
  5. Navigate to New Dist Admin, find the item, and go to the Template tab. Under General Settings, click Reset User Template.
  6. Attempt to generate the PDF again — the error should be resolved.

Note: Assets in Chili are referenced by a unique ID. If an asset is deleted, any template referencing it will break. To prevent this, avoid deleting assets that are actively used in templates. If you are unsure which templates reference a given asset, contact support before removing it.
