EQD: Converting an Inventory Client to Non-Inventory and Removing Inventory
Product: EQ Distributor
When to Use This Guide
Use this guide when you need to remove a client's inventory management status and delete their existing inventory records from EQ Distributor. Follow these steps when a client is no longer using managed inventory and you need to clean up their item and warehouse records.
Before You Begin
Requirements:
• Supervisor rights in EQ Distributor (required for changing item class and removing Inventory Management permission)
• All open releases for the client must be invoiced and invoices posted to Accounts Receivable (A/R) before beginning
What you will need:
• Client ID
• Completed inventory checklist for the client with "Include Empty Orders and allocations" checked
Estimated time: 20–45 minutes depending on number of inventory items
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Run the inventory checklist for the client. Make sure to select Include Empty Orders and allocations.
2. Invoice all open warehouse releases and post the invoices to A/R. This clears allocations and allows empty inventory lots to be removed.
Remove inventory for each item:
3. Go to Inventory > Maintenance > Warehouse Inventory Usage.
4. Enter the Client ID and Item ID.
5. Highlight the lot record.
6. Delete the inventory record and add a comment explaining why.
7. Right-click in the Item ID field and select Edit Item.
8. Click the Whse Locs button and remove the warehouse locations assigned to the item.
9. Change the Item Class to Non-Stock. Supervisor rights are required for this change.
10. Click Save out of Item Maintenance.
11. Repeat steps 3–10 for each inventory item. Use the inventory checklist to verify all items have been processed.
Remove Inventory Management permission from the client:
12. Go to Client Maintenance and edit the client record.
13. Click Program.
14. Select Remove Inventory Mgmt.
Expected outcome: The client's inventory records are removed, all items are set to non-stock, and the Inventory Management permission is removed from the client record.
