EQD: AR Open Credit Cards - Auto-Send Payment Receipt When A Card On File Is Charged
🔵 Overview When a card on file is charged through O/E Open Credit Cards or A/R Open Credit Cards, a Payment Received receipt now sends automatically. Previously, automatic receipts only happened for PayByLink payments — charging a card on file required a manual step through AR Receipts Editing to send one.
How It Works
- Charging a card on file through O/E Open Credit Cards or A/R Open Credit Cards now automatically sends a Payment Received receipt — no manual step required.
- The receipt's content (subtotal, fee breakdown, total, and logo) matches what the existing manual Email Receipt to Client option produces.
Choosing Where The Receipt Goes
- When charging a single invoice, a popup appears at the time of charge so you can confirm the recipient email and logo before the receipt sends. This applies in both O/E Open Credit Cards and A/R Open Credit Cards.
- In A/R Open Credit Cards, charging multiple invoices at once skips the popup — the system automatically sends a receipt for each transaction instead.
💡 Note If no client contact is on file, the popup still appears so you can enter a recipient manually — the receipt does not fail silently.
One Receipt Per Charge
Each new charge or partial payment against an order generates its own accurate receipt. Charging a remaining balance after a partial payment, for example, sends a separate receipt for that new amount without duplicating the earlier one.
If You Need To Resend A Receipt
The existing manual option is still available: AR > Receipts > Receipts Editing > open the receipt > Program > Email Receipt to Client. Use this if auto-send didn't fire, or if you need to resend a receipt.
This Doesn't Affect PayByLink
The existing PayByLink automatic receipt flow works the same as it did before this update.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to do anything to get a receipt when I charge a card on file?
A: No. Charging a card on file through O/E Open Credit Cards or A/R Open Credit Cards now sends the receipt automatically.
Q: What if there's no recipient email on file for the client?
A: A popup still appears at the time of charge so you can enter a recipient — the receipt doesn't fail silently.
Q: What happens if I charge multiple invoices for a client at once through A/R Open Credit Cards?
A: The system automatically sends a receipt for each transaction rather than prompting you with a popup for each one.
Q: Will I get duplicate receipts if I charge the same order more than once (for example, a partial payment followed by the remaining balance)?

Q: Does this change how PayByLink receipts work?
