DBC: Companies - Part 1
Overview
Company maintenance pages are the primary control and setup mechanism for managing your customers’ sites on DB Commerce. These pages are some of the larger and more detailed pages in DB/c. We are in the process of migrating these tasks to our New Distributor Admin (New Dist Admin) and have the basic tasks completed. However, some of our company maintenance is still done in the Legacy Dist Admin under Work with Companies.
Company List
Upon logging into the New Distributor Admin interface (New Dist Admin), you will see the list of companies that exist in your back office system that have been “brought online” to DB Commerce and are configured to use the “Standard” (V5) Site User Interface.
Company Selection
The company list is sorted alphabetically in a paginated display, with inactive companies filtered out by default. You can click each of the column headers to sort the company list in ascending or descending order by Company Name, Company ID, Customer Number, or Site URL, and toggle between the “Active” and “All” filters as desired. Additionally, you can filter the list of companies by typing all or part of the values in each of the columns into the search bar. To select a company, simply double-click its row. Once you’ve done so, that selection will persist across the different admin areas. Note: assuming a valid URL exists for a company, clicking on the links in the Site URL column will open that site in a new browser tab.
Bringing a New Customer Online
To bring a company online so that it will be included in the Company List, and ultimately, so that a storefront can be created and maintained, you can choose from a list of “Offline Companies”.
- Click on the “+” to see a listing of all companies that have been replicated/exported from yourback office system to DB Commerce.
- Click on the “+” that appears to the right upon hover for the company you wish to bring online.
Once you bring a new company online, you will automatically be taken to the Company
Overview section. Note: the system will bring in the company information from your back office
system. It may take an hour or two for it to fully replicate and populate.
Company Overview
This section contains a display of static, company information that is synced from your back-office
system, as well as a few high-level controls, such as whether the company is active, the type of
interface (Standard/V5 vs. Legacy/Classic), a field to modify the company’s DB Commerce site URL,
and an area to maintain the company logo. Most of the company maintenance (permissions, account
history, etc.) will continue to be maintained through the Legacy Admin interface until further notice.
Company Information
This area contains the customer’s data brought over from your backoffice system. Note: if you just
brought the company online, some of this data may say “null” until the sync process is complete.
Site Setup
